Report alleges man set sleeping NYC subway woman on fire, killing her.

NEW YORK– A commuter on an F train in Coney Island met a tragic end Sunday morning after a lit match was thrown at her, engulfing her in flames, according to the news sources and  in the  New York Post.

On Sunday morning, an unidentified man allegedly flicked a lit match at a sleeping woman aboard an MTA subway train, causing her to catch fire, according to the publication.

According to a report, NYPD officers responded to an incident at approximately 7:30 a.m. at the Coney Island subway station, located at Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn.

The victim was allegedly attacked by a man sitting across from her, who stood up and threw a lit match at her while she was asleep in a sitting position on the idling F train, as stated by police.

The male suspect then fled the scene. Emergency responders extinguished the fire, and EMS declared the woman dead at the scene, according to the report. Liquor bottles were found surrounding the victim, although it is unclear if they contributed to the fire. The woman’s identity has been withheld pending notification of her family.
