Voters Cast Ballots at Torrington City Hall as Early Voting Window Nears Final Days

TORRINGTON, Conn. — Early voting across Connecticut is entering its final stretch this weekend, drawing residents from all backgrounds to local polling sites ahead of the upcoming general election.

At Torrington City Hall at 140 Main Street, clear direction markers guided voters through the building’s main lobby toward the official early voting location. Inside, voters completed their paper ballots in private voting booths equipped with patriotic desktop dividers.

Inspiring Civic Pride: A New Citizen’s Journey

Among those casting their ballots was local resident Yangji Sherpa, who expressed immense pride in taking part in the American democratic process.

Having moved to Connecticut from New York after immigrating from Nepal, Sherpa reflected on what voting in her new hometown means to her:

“From Nepal to New York, and now Torrington, CT—I am so proud to be a U.S. citizen and exercise my right to vote today to help shape a brighter future for Connecticut!”

Sherpa’s story highlights the expanding diversity of the local community and underscores how early voting provides an accessible opportunity for naturalized citizens and busy residents alike to make their voices heard.
