Over 100 Indian migrants deported by US in major crackdown
New Delhi – In a significant move against illegal immigration, a U.S. military plane recently transported 104 Indian migrants back to India. This action underscores the U.S. government’s ongoing efforts to address the issue of undocumented immigration.
The flight landed in Amritsar, Punjab, on Wednesday, with the deported individuals coming from various states across India, including Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. This event follows ongoing discussions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on immigration policies and bilateral trade.
The Indian government has expressed its willingness to accept the deported nationals, provided their identities are verified. New Delhi has reiterated its stance against illegal immigration due to concerns about its links to organized crime. The External Affairs Ministry of India has stated that they will facilitate the return of Indian nationals with proper verification.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, emphasized India’s commitment to addressing illegal immigration and ensuring the safe return of its citizens. The deportation serves as a deterrent to potential illegal migrants.
Upon arrival in Amritsar, the deportees were provided with transportation to their respective home states. Security measures were heightened at the airport by Punjab Police to ensure a smooth process. Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, assured that all necessary assistance would be provided to the deportees.
This deportation marks a critical step in the U.S. government’s efforts to combat illegal migration, while highlighting the cooperation between the U.S. and Indian authorities on this pressing issue.
