New affordable housing lottery opens in NYC, offering units starting at $454
NEW YORK- Residents seeking affordable housing in New York City have a new opportunity with the launch of the Bronx housing lottery in Unionport. The development, called Bruckner Heights, includes 274 units across two buildings located at 2070 Chatterton Ave. and 1017 Olmstead Ave.
Rent for these apartments starts at $454 per month for studios, with eligibility based on income levels. One-bedroom units are available starting at $577, while two-bedroom apartments start at $680. The lottery is open to individuals and families who meet the required income criteria.
Applications for Bruckner Heights are being accepted through NYC Housing Connect, and interested residents have until June 2 to apply. Affordable housing lotteries are part of New York City’s ongoing efforts to address the rising demand for cost-effective living spaces.
Mr. Nima Sherpa, a Housing Ambassador of New York and a representative of the United Sherpa Association, emphasized the importance of affordable housing initiatives. He stated, *”Programs like this provide much-needed relief to families struggling with rising rent costs. We encourage eligible residents to apply and take advantage of this opportunity.”*
