Nepali Language Classes for Children Begin in Jackson Heights
NEW YORK-A new Nepali language program for young children is launching in Jackson Heights this spring, offering families an opportunity to strengthen cultural connection and language skills within the community.

The beginner‑level course, designed for children ages 5 to 10, will run from May 2 to June 13 with weekly classes held on Saturdays from 1:30 to 3 PM. The curriculum includes Nepali letters and numbers, basic reading and writing, everyday conversation, and memory‑boosting songs and rhymes.
The program will be led by Prava Adhikari, a respected language educator, author, and cultural ambassador with more than 30 years of teaching experience in both Nepal and the United States. She has also taught Nepali classes at the Sherpa Community Center in the past, contributing to cultural preservation efforts. She is doing this for the Nepali community, helping to preserve language and culture for future generations.

Mr. Nima Sherpa, former United Sherpa Association Nepali Language Coordinator, praised Adhikari’s dedication, saying, “She is the best teacher we ever had, and students’ parents love her classes.”
Classes will take place at 76‑11 37th Ave #202, Jackson Heights, providing families in the area with an accessible and welcoming learning environment.
Miss Prava said , the goal is to help children build confidence in speaking Nepali while strengthening cultural identity and community ties.
