359 Dead in Nepal Flood Disaster as Search Teams Hunt for Missing Americans
KATHMANDU– The death toll from Wednesday’s devastating flood in Nepal has climbed to 359, according to Nepal Police. Bodies have been recovered from eight districts as rescue teams continue searching through destroyed riverbanks, villages, and landslide zones.
Nepal Police spokesperson Abi Narayan Kafle confirmed the revised number, saying search teams are still working in remote areas where access has been difficult due to damaged roads and heavy debris.
Along with the rising death toll, officials report that 65 American tourists are still missing. They were traveling in the Himalayan region when the sudden flood hit. Hundreds of people from other countries also remain out of contact. Nepali authorities are coordinating with embassies to identify missing individuals and support families waiting for updates.
The flood swept through multiple districts after a powerful surge of water, mud, and rocks destroyed homes, bridges, and community areas. Local residents, police, and military teams are working together to recover bodies, locate missing people, and move survivors to safer locations.
