India targets militant sites in Pakistan amid rising tensions
DELHI – India has launched missile strikes on several locations in Pakistan and Pakistani-administered Kashmir, targeting sites it claims are linked to militant activities. The strikes come two weeks after a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, which India blames on Pakistan-based groups.
The operation hit locations in Muzaffarabad and Kotli in Pakistani-administered Kashmir, as well as Bahawalpur and Muridke in Pakistan’s Punjab province. India insists the strikes were carefully planned and did not target Pakistani military facilities.
Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack, reporting civilian casualties and damages to infrastructure, including mosques. The government has vowed to respond at a time of its choosing.
The international community has urged both nations to remain calm and avoid further escalation. The situation remains tense, with global diplomatic efforts underway to ease tensions.
