Former ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa Arrested in Rs 87.8 Million Fraud Case

KATHMANDU- Nepal Police have arrested Karma Tsering Sherpa, the former president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), in connection with a major financial fraud investigation involving Tungaram International Academy in Hattigauda.

Sherpa was taken into custody on Friday evening by a team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). According to CIB spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police Anup Shumsher J.B. Rana, Sherpa is accused of misappropriating school funds and causing significant financial losses while serving as the institution’s executive head.

Investigators say Sherpa operated the school’s bank account with single‑signature authority, allowing him to make unauthorized withdrawals and financial decisions without proper oversight.

Police reports outline several allegations, including:

• Misusing school funds for personal benefit
• Selling school‑owned land to companies linked to him
• Purchasing land and vehicles using money meant for school operations
• Violating fiduciary responsibilities and breaching institutional trust

Nepal , CIB officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with additional financial documents, land records, and witness statements currently under review.
