Three people found dead across new york city as dangerous cold hits region

New York City — A powerful blast of sub‑freezing temperatures has turned deadly in New York City, where three people were found unresponsive outdoors on Saturday morning as the region faced one of its coldest days of the season.

Police said the first victim, a 67‑year‑old man, was discovered around 7:45 a.m. on 3rd Avenue in Manhattan. A short time later, officers in Brooklyn responded to two additional cases: a woman in her 60s found outside in the Canarsie neighborhood, and a man believed to be in his 30s discovered on an outdoor staircase in Cobble Hill.

All three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. According to authorities, none of the victims showed signs of trauma, and early investigations suggest exposure to extreme cold may have been a major factor. Police believe all three were experiencing homelessness at the time of their deaths. No criminal activity is suspected.

New York City has been under a cold weather advisory, with temperatures dropping into the teens and wind chills making conditions even more dangerous. Health officials warn that hypothermia can set in quickly, especially for people without access to warm shelter.

City agencies have urged residents to check on vulnerable neighbors and to call 311 if they see anyone who may need assistance during extreme weather.
