Rabi Lamicchane released on Rs 1 crore bail amid multiple fraud charges

KATHMANDU– Rabi  Lamichhane, president of the National Independent Party, was released from Rupandehi District Court on bail after depositing 1 crore rupees. Lamichhane faces charges of cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering. According to court’s Tehsildar Kumar Khatriwada, Lamichhane was released after submitting a bank guarantee of 1 crore rupees.

Following extensive arguments from the defense, plaintiff, and government lawyers, Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi ordered the bail amount. Lamichhane, alongside 22 others, is accused of significant financial fraud relating to the Supreme Cooperative, with the total claimed damages amounting to over 55 crore rupees.

Previously, Lamichhane was involved in the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case and released on bail from Kaski District Court and Kathmandu District Court for similar offenses. The ongoing legal proceedings continue to attract public attention.
