Snow and rain in Torrington delayed openings for schools

TORRINGTON – Snow and rain were the story up in northwestern Connecticut on Wednesday morning.

Torrington police told Channel 3 that they had no crashes to report as of 5 a.m.; however, they said the roads were still slick. They advised caution.

Norfolk’s public information officer, John Barbagallo, reported a temperature of 30 degrees as of 5:15 a.m. with about 2 inches of wet, slushy snow that was still on town roads.

He did say that Route 44 was mostly bare, just wet.
Plows have been driving around the city to clear and treat roads.

A number of school districts in Torrington, Litchfield County have announced two-hour
delays.
