Us will take Greenland one way or the other, says Trump as Eu issues warning

Washington DC-  Tension increased this week after President Donald Trump repeated his claim that the United States will secure Greenland one way or the other. His statement brought the debate over the future of the Arctic island back into the spotlight.

“Trump on Greenland: “whether they like it or not… If we don’t do it the easy way, we’ll do it the hard way.”

Speaking to reporters, Trump described Greenland as a strategic necessity for the United States. He did not give details about how the country would gain control of the island, but his comments were similar to those he made during his first term when the idea of buying Greenland from Denmark caused global attention.

Leaders in the European Union responded quickly. They warned that any attempt by the United States to take control of Greenland would create a major diplomatic crisis. Eu officials said Greenland is not negotiable and that any unilateral move would be seen as a threat to European stability.

Danish officials repeated that Greenland is not for sale. They emphasized that the people of Greenland have the right to decide their own future. Greenland’s local government has also said it wants stronger international partnerships but has no plan to give up its autonomy.

Experts say the renewed dispute shows how important the Arctic region has become. Global powers are competing for influence natural resources and military advantage as melting ice opens new shipping routes and exposes valuable minerals.

For now the situation remains diplomatic. Eu leaders have urged the United States to avoid actions that could increase tension. Greenland’s government is expected to release a statement soon.
