United States launches military strikes on Venezuela

WASHINGTON– President Donald Trump announced early Saturday that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were taken out of the country during an overnight U.S. military operation. According to the announcement, both were flown to an undisclosed location after the mission was completed.

Soon after the capture, the U.S. Department of Justice released a new indictment accusing Maduro and his wife of taking part in a narco‑terrorism conspiracy. The charges include narco‑terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, and possession of destructive devices. U.S. officials say the indictment describes a long‑running effort to support cocaine trafficking and protect criminal groups using government power.

Authorities say the couple will face the U.S. justice system, but no details have been released about when they will appear in court or where they are currently being held.

This is a developing story, and more updates are expected soon.
