Pelham Bay, one of New York City’s oldest public golf venues, offered a scenic and challenging setting for the day’s play. Golfers of varying skill levels competed under clear skies in formats that included individual stroke play and team scrambles. The tournament also featured cultural touches—traditional Tibetan snacks, community discussions, and a post-round gathering that strengthened social ties.

Participants ranged from seasoned players to newcomers, including an 11-year-old girl whose graceful play symbolized the rising confidence of the next generation.“The thrill of winning is real but what made today unforgettable was meeting old friends again. On the course, I gave it my all. But off the course, the laughter, the stories, the shared memories… that was the true victory. I feel blessed to have experienced both.”said Lakpa Sherpa, the tournament winner, when asked by the khumbule media team.

As immigration continues to shape New York’s identity, events like this exemplify how diverse groups integrate while maintaining their unique traditions. From the fairways of the Bronx to the mountains of memory, the Annual Tibetan Golf Tournament stands as a testament to the power of sport in uniting people across borders.
