Nepali Congress accuses Rabi Lamichanne supporters of undermining judicial process

KATHMANDU– The Nepali Congress has accused supporters of Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) who was arrested in a cooperative fraud case, of engaging in disruptive activities and street protests that aim to influence the preliminary investigation of the judicial process. These actions are alleged to create undue pressure on neutral state bodies, instilling fear and intimidation.

In the statement, the Nepali Congress has reminded RSP that under the rule of law, all citizens are equal. The party emphasized that the law should be equally applied to everyone. It also highlighted that it is the government’s responsibility to implement the report from the parliamentary committee following a detailed study, which the Council of Ministers has decided to put into action.

“The hooliganism and street demonstrations by the supporters of Rabi Lamichhane are hindering the preliminary investigation in the judicial process and creating undue pressure on neutral state bodies. Therefore, the Nepali Congress has drawn serious attention to such unfair activities,” the statement continued.

Through the statement, Nepali Congress reiterated its commitment to ensuring that anyone involved in activities considered criminal under prevailing law, regardless of their party affiliation, position, or status, should be investigated and brought to justice.
