Monks robbed at gunpoint at Buddhist temple in New York City
A trio of armed men broke into a Buddhist temple in Brooklyn Sunday afternoon, held monks at gunpoint, and fled the scene with money and stolen property.
Three men used a back door to enter the Watt Samaki temple on Rugby Road in Prospect Park South shortly before 2:30 p.m.
Once inside, they stole property and money at gunpoint from several monks, according to news sources and police.
No arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing.
The Buddhist temple mostly serves the Cambodian community in New York and New Jersey, according to its website. The location was purchased in 1987.
